Job Summary:  

The Manager, Global Sourcing – North America Chemicals will lead activities for the development and execution of sourcing strategies for the NA Chemicals category and its execution across the North American business. They are accountable for the implementation of the strategy, value generation from cost savings initiatives, and continuity of supply. The Manager will be the direct interface to the supply base and be responsible for supplier management for all strategic and tactical issues.

The primary objective for this role is to be the marketplace expert for Tempur Sealy in North America on all aspects of commodity costs, performance and technology shifts and supply base trends, and to manage and lead the category activities related to product innovations, cost drivers, and market trends.

This position will report to the Director of Global Sourcing - NA Raw Materials and will support the Global Category Leader.

Continuity of Supply, Cost Management / Savings, KPIs, Category Risk Mitigation, Forecasting, Quality Improvements and New Product Launch models (80%):
Responsible to manage a broad range of materials and components as assigned by the Director of Strategic Sourcing. Primary focus of role are all Chemicals purchases related to polyurethane foam production at multiple sites in NA. Manage and lead the NA chemicals team consisting of a category specialist and a program manager

• Accountable for development and implementation of the NA Sourcing Strategy for the Chemicals Category, including alignment to the Global Sourcing Strategy as outlined by the Global Category Leader and overall company goals.
• Lead contract and pricing negotiations that provide favorable terms for, lead time, inventory levels, freight policies, payment terms, technology innovation, delivery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Manage a team of sourcing professionals. Allocate work according to project prioritization and team member bandwidth to maximize results.
• Own the supplier relationship with major suppliers on assigned categories.
• Responsible for managing the supplier balanced scorecard and conducting periodic reviews with supplier and TSI management.
• Accountable for owning and enforcing the terms and conditions of the supplier contracts.
• Implement, administer, and report the results of supplier initiatives covering assigned categories.
• Interface with senior level executives at suppliers and within TSI.
• Ensure operational compliance to global purchasing programs, addressing any issues that may surface.
• Manage assigned category specifications by structure, raw materials, and finishing applications.
• Obtain or secure material technology for exclusive Tempur Sealy use and competitive advantage.
• Develop total cost models and associated charts to analyze and understand base raw materials that comprise targeted components and raw materials within the spend assigned.
• Initiate alternative sourcing opportunities with new or current suppliers.
• Interact with Product Development, Marketing and Operations Management to develop and apply new materials and product improvements.
• Coordinate supplier certification process, approval, and compliance for the assigned material supply base in conjunction with the Supplier Quality Engineer.
• Negotiate contracts with assigned suppliers which achieve lowest system costs while maintaining the highest quality and service parameters.
• Create supply management strategies for assigned raw material categories, which improve plant inventory level days on hand, improve order accuracy and align lead time requirements.
• Establish strategies to reduce or eliminate excess and obsolete components or materials and consolidate raw material spend.
• Solicit and implement thoughts and ideas provided by plant sourcing, operations and manufacturing to better manage and optimize supply chain efficiencies.
• Work cross functionally with corporate Marketing, Advanced Technology, Product Development and Operations to develop best practices and earlier involvement with the introduction of new raw materials and product lines.
• Participate in cross functional events to express the best interest of all supply chain functions.
• Manage any supplier liaison or contract employees as assigned.
• Provide critical feedback loops to Manufacturing and Planning on appropriate supplier capacities for each facility depending on the complexity of the new products.
• Represent TSI at industry conferences and events, obtain and evaluate latest market intelligence

Administration (20%)

• Prepare RFI’s, RFQ’s, RFP’s, price analysis, maintains category chronological summary of supplier communications and required filing systems.
• Enter content information into electronic systems and updates/reviews data for accuracy.
• Coordinate contracting process with TSI Legal and ensure proper documentation, execution and management of contract extensions or amendments.
• Employ TSI favorable terms and conditions in all agreements.
• Resolve supply or quality related problems for assigned spends (i.e.: pricing, expediting, scheduling of orders, investigating discrepancies and gathering required and coordinating communications to internal business partners.
• Manage category specific data (part number, nomenclature, shipping footprint, unit of measure, lead time, etc.…).
• Maintain vendor master and category SKU’s/part numbers for accuracy.
• Disseminate information (i.e., pricing, SKUs, availability and packaging) to the plants and management as required.

Requirements

Ideal Candidate Possesses These Attributes:
Working knowledge of the polyurethanes and / or petrochemicals NA market

• Knowledge of polyurethane foam processing and associated input material supply chains for Isocyanates and Polyols, and suppliers of these materials
• Proven ability to work with regional and global suppliers in a Sourcing, Procurement, or related supply chain role
• Flexibility to seek & incorporate input from others
• Advanced negotiation skills
• Ability to drive timely and favorable dispute resolution
• Ability to adapt and manage effectively in fast-paced and continuously changing environment
• Self-starter with experience in planning, assessing, and implementing change
• Solid interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Highly effective communication, presentation, and analytical skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Software Programs (Word, Excel, Access, etc.…)
• Broad project management skills and disciplined in developing objectives, action plans and effective in defending and selling decisions with confidence
• Experience managing/leading people.

Qualifications

• BA/BS required in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain required
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the polyurethanes and / or petrochemicals field
• 10+ years of category / supplier relationship management experience or roles developing comparable skills
• 3+ years of managing professionals.
• Cumulative experience of 10+ years Procurement, Engineering, or Supply Chain related fields

Salary : $95,000 to $135,000

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:  Fast-paced corporate office environment. Some stress may occur. Regular travel is not expected in this position; however, travel around scheduled projects such as program rollouts may be necessary. Global travel may be required due to nature of supply base for assigned Categories.
